Kate has a special interest in elder law and helping families of vulnerable people; protecting their assets and managing their affairs. Kate is frequently appointed by the Court to undertake Lawyer for Child work and also Subject Person appointments. She enjoys this work helping people with diminished capacity and people in vulnerable situations.
She grew up in Rotorua and has a lifelong connection with that area. In 2021, she relocated to Mount Maunganui but still gets plenty of referrals to undertake work for clients in Rotorua. She was on the Board of her local primary school for 9 years and was the Chairperson for 6 of those years. For many years she was the Family Law section regional representative for the Rotorua, Tokoroa and Taupo areas. She was also the Local Justice Network member liaising with the Court and other stakeholders.
Kate is also a fully qualified Mediator. She has a genuine interest in resolving disputes outside of court, if at all possible. She also believes in assisting parties to resolve their own disputes whilst also maintaining relationships.
